What happens
Jack Benny spends a last night in New York before returning to Hollywood, joking with Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson, Abe Lyman and Kenny Baker about his supposed wild nightlife. An old school friend, Buddy, who is now mayor of Walt Egan, Illinois, visits the broadcast and reminisces with Jack about their boyhood there. The cast then stages a sketch set about 25 years earlier in the Benny family's department store, with Benny playing his father and a young actor playing the child Jack, who is pressed to practise violin instead of playing ball. This Jell-O program was broadcast in March 1937 on NBC and CBS Radio.

Listen for: Jack's reenacted boyhood sketch at the Benny's department store, where a visiting mayor and cast members play along
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
