What happens
Jack Benny and Phil Harris argue over a bet on the 1940 World Series, which Jack says Phil still owes him money on, while the cast jokes about Jack's reviews of his fantasy broadcast. Mary Livingston, Don Wilson and Dennis Day take part in the banter, and the episode includes a mix-up over who bet on which team. Jack and Mary also plan to attend a benefit show for the British Red Cross at the El Capitan Theatre, and Rochester is called to pick them up. The episode is from Jack Benny's Jell-O program, first broadcast on October 13, 1940, with the cast led by Jack Benny and Phil Harris.
The Jack Benny radio program, with the cast at the studio and later the El Capitan Theatre.
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingston, Phil Harris, Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Rochester
Listen for: The running gag about the World Series bet and the money owed among the cast.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
