What happens
Jack Benny hosts a dinner party at his Beverly Hills home in honor of Mr. Charles G. Mortimer, the sponsor of the Jell-O program, who is visiting the coast. Jack's cook has a tense evening, while Rochester trims everyone's hair and gives Jack a nervous, fumbling haircut. Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Don Wilson try to keep the guests comfortable as Jack worries about his contract for next season. Mr. Mortimer arrives late after a call, and the gathering grows increasingly chaotic. The episode is part of the Jack Benny series, first broadcast on May 26, 1940, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
