What happens
Jack Benny is recovering in bed at home in Beverly Hills while his cast gathers to rehearse the Grape Nuts Flakes program. Rochester brings him medicine, Phil Harris and Don Wilson arrive, and Orson Welles, who is to guest-host the broadcast while Jack is ill, pays a visit. Welles takes over the rehearsal, meddling with Dennis Day's song and offering opinions on the show. The scene is a light comedy of mishaps in a sickroom and a sharp difference in temperament between Benny and his temporary replacement. The broadcast is part of the Jack Benny series, first aired on April 11, 1943, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the leading roles.

Characters: Jack Benny, Rochester, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Orson Welles, Miss Harrington
Listen for: Rochester mixing and spiking Jack's cough medicine, and the exchange when Orson Welles arrives and starts directing the rehearsal
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
