What happens
Louella Parsons arrives at Jack Benny's home to interview him for her column. Jack, nervous about the visit, arranges a dinner for her with his regular cast, including Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Rochester. The meal is full of small mishaps and interruptions as the guests jockey for attention and Jack tries to make a good impression. Louella finally sits down to ask Jack about his career, his new film and his years in radio. This is the Jack Benny Program, broadcast on NBC and CBS Radio on April 2, 1944, with the cast led by Jack Benny.
Jack Benny's home in Beverly Hills, California, where a dinner is prepared for Louella Parsons' interview.
Characters: Jack Benny, Louella Parsons, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Rochester, Herman Peepot
Listen for: Jack's nervousness as Louella arrives, and the running jokes at dinner about the mashed potatoes and Louella's book.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
