What happens
Jack Benny and his regulars head out to the racetrack, where Jack claims he is unbothered after losing $4.75, though the others keep bringing it up. Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Rochester and Bob Crosby trade winnings and losses while the group drives home. Rochester, Don Wilson and the quartet add to the mix as the car breaks down, the trip grows longer and everyone's money worries come back up. The Jack Benny program is a comedy series, and this episode first aired on May 2, 1954, with Benny, Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris among its leads.
A racetrack and the drive home afterward, with stops along the way.
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Dennis Day, Bob Crosby, Don Wilson, Phil Harris
Listen for: Jack insisting he is not upset about losing $4.75, and how often the others bring it up.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
