What happens
Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris and Don Wilson gather at a sandwich counter before the last broadcast of the season, the Jell-O program on June 16, 1940. Benny frets about his order and his lost straw hat while Livingstone and Harris trade jibes about Paramount and Harris's upcoming tour. Once the show begins, Wilson announces Dennis Day's song and Benny introduces a Western joke from Wilson, and Benny learns that the Aldrich family will take over the summer slot. Benny grows anxious about the young competitor, Henry Aldrich, who arrives at the studio and is treated coolly before the two talk things over.
A drugstore counter near a radio studio, then the studio during the final Jell-O broadcast of the 1939-40 season, with NBC and CBS radio audiences.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
