What happens

Jack Benny broadcasts his final show of the season from the San Diego Naval Base in 1941, with Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Don Wilson. Benny appears in an old Navy uniform he claims to have worn in 1917, and the cast trades jokes about his service record. Dennis Day sings, and the group plans a fishing trip before tour of a battleship turns into a comic mix-up. The broadcast is a light, sketch-based program that closes the season with a promise of return in October.

A radio broadcast from the San Diego Naval Base, California, and later aboard a battleship in the harbor, in 1941.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Don Wilson, Rochester

Listen for: Benny's claim to be a veteran of the 1917 Navy, and the banter over the sailor suit and the battleship visit.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
