What happens

Jack Benny plays a boastful Hollywood character who has sold a horse to his valet Rochester for four dollars, and the horse is now entered in the Kentucky Derby. Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Don Wilson join him for a broadcast full of jokes about fortune tellers, Jack's carnation giveaway and his planted rubber scheme. Rochester keeps pressing for time off to travel to Louisville, while Jack hears about the horse's chances and considers betting on it. The episode is presented as a Grape Nuts Flakes broadcast on NBC, and it aired on April 25, 1943.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
