What happens

Jack Benny hosts his Grape-Nuts Flakes program from Chicago, where the show is broadcast for Army Air Forces trainees. Bob Crosby sits in for Phil Harris as guest conductor, and the cast trades jokes with Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Rochester and Don Wilson. Jack mentions his birthplace in Waukegan, where the house has been torn down, and Bob suggests raising money for a monument on the vacant lot. Donations come in as Jack acts as a reluctant beneficiary. Meanwhile, two Waukegan acquaintances unexpectedly visit, Rochester reports that he has fallen in love, and the story continues into the following week.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
