What happens

Jack Benny and his regulars prepare to leave for Waukegan on the Jell-O program broadcast of June 18, 1939, which falls on Father's Day. The cast trades jokes about their fathers, Carmichael the polar bear, and their upcoming summer trip. Jack and Mary Livingstone exchange gifts for their fathers, Phil Harris teases Jack about his violin playing, and Kenny Baker sings. Rochester searches for the violin and struggles with the packing. The group gathers at the station and boards a train for Waukegan, where the show will broadcast from Jack's hometown.

A radio studio broadcast and then a train station in the United States, as the cast travels to Waukegan, Illinois.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Kenny Baker, Rochester, Eddie Anderson, Andy

Listen for: Jack's and Phil's exchange about violin playing and Kenny Baker's song, along with the sequence at the station as the cast boards the train.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
