What happens

Jack Benny is preparing Christmas cards and a pair of shoelaces with metal tips for his radio sponsor Don Wilson, and he wants to exchange them at a department store. His driver is Mary Livingstone's sister, babe, and young Dennis Day rides along with them. Rochester helps with the errands while Benny keeps trying to get his gift right. The Jack Benny program, first heard on NBC in December 1946, starred Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris. Benny's trip through town takes him through a series of mishaps and encounters with the shoelace counter and the store's staff.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
