What happens
With Jack Benny ill and unable to broadcast, he asks his friends George Burns and Gracie Allen to take over his show. Announcer Don Wilson arrives at the Burns hotel suite to deliver the request, but George and Gracie are already at odds over Gracie's plans for a Carnegie Hall piano concert, and she refuses to appear on a comedy program. Part of the story follows George and Gracie's domestic squabbling while Don tries to win them over. This is a 1943 episode of the Jack Benny series, first aired on March 7, 1943, on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
