What happens
Jack Benny and Rochester are cleaning out the garage when Dennis Day arrives announcing he is running away from home after an argument with his mother over what to watch on television. Jack offers him a guest room, and Dennis sings for him while Jack praises his voice. Later, Jack's friend Mr. Kitzel drops by to describe a dental visit, and Don Wilson comes over to visit. Jack has a bathroom scale reading that surprises him, and he and Don decide to head to the Beverly Wilshire Health Club together. The program is part of the Jack Benny series, first broadcast on January 30, 1955, with Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris also in the cast.
Jack Benny's home and garage in Beverly Hills, then the Beverly Wilshire Health Club
Characters: Jack Benny, Rochester, Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Mr. Kitzel, Mary Livingstone, K.O. Stevens
Listen for: Jack's reaction to the bathroom scale, and the steam room scene at the health club
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
