What happens

Jack Benny and his cast broadcast from the Army Air Force pilot school at Stockton, California, sponsored by Grape Nuts. Benny struggles to land a joke about walking to Stockton, while Don Wilson, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Rochester trade barbs and sing. Jack Benny's program was a 1944 radio comedy with a lighthearted, sketch-based format, and this broadcast aired on April 16, 1944 on NBC and CBS Radio. Sergeant George Hope, brother of Bob Hope, joins the cast, and the cast performs a mock Bob Hope program with Phil Harris playing Vera Vague. Rochester's trip north and Herman's visit complicate the day's plans.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
