What happens

Gabriel Harnell lives alone in a crumbling old mansion on the Manhattan waterfront with his ailing wife, Agnes. Harnell's sick wife keeps nagging him, and he decides to free himself. He is willing to kill her to do it. Late at night, a policeman, Cleary, visits the house, and Harnell is forced to keep up a calm front while something unsettling is heard from behind a wall. Boris Karloff stars in this Inner Sanctum Mysteries episode, first broadcast on November 6, 1945, and written by Milton Lewis.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
