What happens

Carl and Arthur Cruz live on a remote estate with their wives Lucille and Mary, along with their caretaker Horace Spears. While planting poplar trees, Carl unearths a skull at a site Spears says is an old Indian burial ground and warns is cursed. Shortly after, Mary falls from a window and dies, and the skull seems to roll down the stairs and move about the house. Carl locks it in a closet, but it keeps turning up, unnerving everyone. This Inner Sanctum Mysteries episode aired on April 15, 1944, and the transcript covers only its opening part.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
