What happens

Anne Winslow misses her last train home and takes a late taxi out along the reservoir roads in the rain. The cab driver's passenger in the back seat slumps against her, and when she reaches her isolated house, the driver leaves the man there with her. Anne finds the body is gone when the police arrive, and Detective Manson doubts her account. Inner Sanctum Mysteries, the radio series, first aired this episode on September 21, 1952. Anne is left to convince the authorities that a dead man was real and that she is not imagining things.

A rainy night in the city and a remote house on the reservoir roads outside town, with a taxi cab and a railway station nearby.

Characters: Anne Winslow, Detective Manson, Mrs. Blaine, The cab driver, The porter

Listen for: The taxi driver's conversation with Anne in the cab and the sound of the dead passenger leaning against her shoulder.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
