What happens
Smitty Lonergan finds a green bottle on a beach containing a letter and a gold coin signed by a Captain Crow. Hoping to trace the treasure, he visits the village record keeper, Uncle Kale, who tells him about Crow's past dealings near Jellicle Lighthouse. Smitty learns that Crow's will mentions the Lady Jane and the Croker, and he sets out to recover the pieces of the map. Julie, a rifle-carrying partner with her own designs on the gold, follows him through the story. The Inner Sanctum Mysteries episode The Corpse Is Lonely was written by John Robert Lee and aired on May 30, 1949, starring Larry Haynes as Smitty and Barbara Weeks as Julie.
A beach and a deserted lighthouse on Jellicle Strip off the New England coast, and the village nearby.
Characters: Smitty, Julie, Sharky, Uncle Kale, Hester Crow, Tom Crow, Pedro
Listen for: The old green bottle on the beach and the three pieces of a treasure map that pass from hand to hand.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
