What happens
Linda Dixon drives north through the night to a mountain lodge near Mount Mansfield after a broken fuel pump delays her. Hearing a prison whistle and a radio warning about escaped prisoner Lee Hartley and a red-haired woman, she grows nervous, since she has red hair too. A state trooper lets her go, and at a dark service station she finds a dead attendant. A man calling himself John Taylor offers her a lift, and her fear mounts as she sees the stain on his hand and the trunk of his car. Inner Sanctum Mysteries aired this story on June 29, 1952, with Agnes Moorehead as Linda Dixon.
A rainy night on a mountain road in Vermont, near Mount Mansfield, including a service station and a country doctor's house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
