What happens

Henry Harmon, a salesman, is haunted by a worry that his wife Helen might leave him for another man. After reading of a strangled young woman found wearing new nylon stockings, he discovers that a woman he saw at the morgue was not Helen, and he begins to suspect his own mind. Henry grows increasingly unsettled as he stands in lines to buy nylons and follows women who resemble his wife. The story is a dramatic radio play from the Inner Sanctum Mysteries series, first broadcast on March 12, 1946, with Santos Ortega in the role of Henry.

A city in the 1940s, including a morgue, an apartment, and a nylon stocking shop on Madison Avenue.

Characters: Henry, Helen, Judson, Keating, Commissioner Stanger, Louise, Marge

Listen for: Henry's shifting awareness of what he is doing, and the telegram from Helen that he reads at home.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
