What happens
District attorney Tom Archer and his assistant John Frane are attacked in a dark alley near Frane's home, and Frane is stabbed to death by a man with a knife. Archer survives with knife wounds to his hands and sets out to identify the killer. Frane's widow, Susan, stands to lose a large inheritance unless she is married and living with her husband on her twenty-third birthday, and a lawyer presses Archer to consider marrying her. The characters are drawn into a search for who is responsible, with several of them under suspicion. This is the Inner Sanctum Mysteries radio series, broadcast in 1945, and Les Tremaine plays Tom Archer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
