What happens

Julia Martin, who has been married for only a year, is troubled by terrifying dreams of digging and an open grave beneath the oak tree at her husband Stephen's country house. Searching the garden in the morning, she finds freshly filled ground that looks like a grave, and her sister-in-law Caroline and Stephen grow increasingly alarmed by her behaviour. Dr. Carl is summoned to talk with her about returning her to a sanatorium, and tensions in the house rise as the household begins to suspect one another. Julia's story and the family's secrets become tangled as a storm closes in.

A country house on a hillside overlooking a small town, with a garden and an old oak tree, during a spring day and the storm-lashed night that follows.

Characters: Julia Martin, Stephen Martin, Caroline, Dr. Krause, Dr. Carl, Susan, George

Listen for: Julia's growing certainty that she saw digging in the garden, and the mud on Caroline's shoes the next morning.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
