What happens
Ed Tate, a newspaper reporter recently released from a sanitarium, becomes convinced that a sinister stranger in black is pursuing him after he and his new bride Mary elope. Tate is haunted by guilt over the death of Stella Andrews, a woman he publicly accused years earlier. Inner Sanctum Mysteries, a radio anthology series, presents Death Out of Mind, first broadcast on December 29, 1947, with Larry Haynes as Ed and Anne Shepard as Mary. The couple is shaken by a roadside encounter and by the man's repeated appearances, and Tate's behavior grows increasingly erratic. Police and a doctor question him while the investigation proceeds.
New York City, including an apartment in Chelsea, a roadside stand, and the waterfront under the Brooklyn Bridge, with a police station and hospital as later settings

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
