What happens

Danny Gordon, acquitted of murdering the jeweler Carson, is haunted by a voice he should not be able to hear. His lawyer, Russell, has privately decided that Danny killed another man, Stack Allen, and offers to help him recover a diamond. Gail, Danny's companion, grows wary as the three of them head into the woods. The story is an Inner Sanctum Mysteries radio play by Robert Newman, with Joseph Julian as Danny, broadcast in 1945.

A courthouse jail and the town around it, a wooded area outside town, and a pawnshop.

Characters: Danny Gordon, Russell, Gail, Stack Allen, Carson, Finney, Frankie

Listen for: Danny's conversations with Russell and Gail, and the voice he keeps hearing.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
