What happens
Michael Axford, a reporter for the Daily Sentinel, learns that Norman Maywood is under investigation for evading taxes. Larry Stacy, a reporter for the rival Clarion, takes a job as Maywood's confidential secretary to dig up a story, and he and Axford make a shaky pact to share what they find. Axford visits Maywood's divorced wife, who still suspects her former husband of hiding war profit funds. Meanwhile, Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, hears of Stacy's disappearance and begins to suspect that something about the case is not what it seems. The Green Hornet is part of the story as the episode develops.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
