Duke Finlay, newly released from prison on parole, and his associates Steve and Max pick up a dazed man near a park who cannot remember his name. Finlay realizes the man is Grant Weaver, a missing man whose disappearance has been on the front page of the Sentinel. Britt Reid, the publisher of the Daily Sentinel, investigates the disappearance of Grant Wheeler with his assistant Michael Oxford and his valet Kato, while the Green Hornet, Reid's masked alter ego, is also drawn into the case. Wheeler's wife and daughter, Sandra, receive a demand for ransom from the kidnappers. This is the first part of an episode of The Green Hornet, a radio series, first broadcast on July 22, 1947.

A city in the 1940s, including a park, the Wheeler home, the Sentinel newspaper offices, Britt Reid's apartment and his lakeshore cottage.

Listen for: The ransom demand made to the Wheeler family and the mystery of Grant Wheeler's missing memory.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
