What happens

Britt Reid, a young publisher of the Daily Sun, is approached by Police Commissioner Callaway, who fears a racketeer named Oliver Perry holds letters that could embarrass him. Reid agrees to help and visits the racketeer's world to recover them, while Perry sets a trap for the Green Hornet. The story follows the cat-and-mouse dealings between Reid, his valet Kato, and Perry through a night of disguises, a planned break-in and a tense confrontation. Late in the episode the plot turns on who is actually behind the Hornet's mask.

Mid-1940s city of Los Angeles-style metropolis, including the Daily Sun newspaper office, the police commissioner's office, Reid's apartment and a lakefront inn up the shore road.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
