What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Sentinel, and his valet Cato are introduced as the Green Hornet's alter egos in this 1940 episode of The Green Hornet. The Sentinel investigates a city highway deal after an inside tip suggests someone profited from advance knowledge of the route. Councilman Callaway pressures Carson, a front man for a dummy real estate company, to keep quiet before a committee hearing. Callaway hires a gunman named Trigger to silence Carson, while the Green Hornet confronts Carson in his home. The story is still unfolding as the transcript ends, with the police and the Sentinel reporters closing in on the men behind the scheme.

A city in the late 1930s, with the offices of the Sentinel newspaper, Carson's house, and Callaway's office.

Characters: Britt Reid, Cato, Green Hornet, Michael Axford, Lenore Case, Carson, Callaway, Miss Prentice

Listen for: Listen for the Hornet's confrontation with Carson and for Trigger's exchange with Callaway about the murder.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
