What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, is asked to help Linda Finley, a wealthy widow worried that her twenty-one-year-old son Donald is romancing Dasha Morley, an actress. Reid offers little advice, and Linda later sends her butler-secretary Charles Darwin with money and a note for Dasha. The next morning Linda is found shot dead in her study, and Donald and Dasha are taken in for questioning by Inspector Evans. Reid suspects Darwin's alibi and sets out with Kato to search the household, while the police press the case against the two young people.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
