What happens
Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, and his valet Cato pursue the city's gambling racket. Chief of Police Ritter has announced that organized gambling is gone, but reporter Larry Dorman and Sergeant Moran suspect Frenchy is quietly reopening his joint. Moran is found injured after a phone call, and the paper's editors press for a story. The episode is an installment of The Green Hornet, broadcast on June 24, 1940, with its regular cast. The story opens here and is still developing when the transcript ends.
A city in the late 1930s, with its newspaper offices, police headquarters, and gambling houses along the river front.
Characters: Britt Reid, Cato, Larry Dorman, Ritter, Frenchy, Sergeant Moran, Mr. Casey, Kato
Listen for: Listen for the gambling raid and the bomb-and-smoke confrontation in Frenchy's joint.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
