What happens

Red Doyle, a jailed truck driver, tells young Curly Lambert about a contact named Charlie King, and Curly arrives in town hoping to join a racket. After Scrapper McGuire, a copy boy on the Daily Sentinel, is saved from a speeding truck by a stranger, Mike Axford follows that man and reports suspicious dealings to publisher Britt Reid. Reid investigates with his valet Cato, and the two set out to learn what Curly Lambert is really doing.

A prison cell, then a small American city in 1945, with its newspaper office, a downtown hotel, a river-street flat, and an old warehouse on the waterfront.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
