What happens

Publisher Britt Reid, known to the underworld as the Green Hornet, and his valet Kato look into a murder ring after a frightened small-time crook named Crandall disappears while hidden away by the Clarion newspaper. A gunman arrives in the city hunting Crandall and is seen at a hotel after threatening a reporter. Reid's contacts and the police search for the witness, while the Clarion and the Sentinel compete over the story and Reid presses the paper to protect him. The chase moves between the hotel, a fire escape and a country house, where the gunman and a racketeer named Buckner are pursued. The story is told through the chase and the confrontations among the characters.

A big city and a country house outside it, in the late 1930s.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
