What happens

Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, and his valet Kato investigate after a fire tears through one of Macklin's slum tenements, injuring a mother and her son. Reid's reporter Larry and the paper's staff cover the blaze, and Mrs. Pitlock and her son Tony are taken to the newspaper's office. Reid argues that the tenements are fire traps and should be condemned, but the tenants resist leaving their cheap homes. Macklin insists his buildings are sound and pressures a building inspector named Weaver. Later, the Green Hornet begins frightening tenants out of the buildings, and the story of the Sentinel's campaign against Macklin continues. The episode is part of The Green Hornet series, first broadcast on July 20, 1939.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
