What happens

Mike Axford, a reporter for the Daily Sentinel, examines a photograph taken at the fatal fire at the Fairberry clothing store. Accompanied by staff photographer Jack Melbourne, Mike notices a small white figure in one of the pictures and wonders who it could be. The fire chief from battalion 29 was reported killed, and the photograph seems to show a man in a white helmet and coat leaving the building. Mike and Jack enlarge the image and begin checking the facts with the police and fire marshal, while the Green Hornet, Britt Reid, follows the story from behind the scenes. The series, first broadcast on November 16, 1946, features the characters as heard in this episode.

A city newspaper office, a burned clothing store and its fire scene, police headquarters, and a Green Hornet hideout in a city apartment.

Characters: Mike Axford, Jack Melbourne, Britt Reid, Kato, John Fairberry, Lenore Kate, Sergeant Burke, Mr. Reed

Listen for: The enlarged photograph and the figure in the white helmet and coat, and how the reporters test what the picture seems to show against what the fire department says.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
