What happens
Rip Reed, a newspaper editor, discovers that several employees have been cashing counterfeit payroll checks made out to men who do not appear on the staff. Reed and his colleague Mike Oxford follow the trail through the cafe where the checks were cashed, and the police are brought in to help. Reed contacts headquarters, which asks him to keep the story out of the papers and off the radio for the time being. A forger is arrested while trying to pass one of the checks, and the police hope to break the case open. The Green Hornet series, first aired on May 14, 1946, follows the investigation.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
