What happens

Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve's relatives are visited by Aunt Hattie, who arrives unannounced and quickly takes charge of the household, to the discomfort of Gildersleeve, his niece Marjorie, his ward Leroy, and the housekeeper Birdie. Gildersleeve, played by Harold Peary, tries to keep the family calm while the visitor reorganizes their routines, from meals to chores. The household attempts to cope with her rules and her criticisms, and the family's frustration builds over the days she stays. The series, The Great Gildersleeve, aired on NBC on October 13, 1948, with Willard Waterman and Lillian Randolph in the cast alongside Peary and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
