What happens
Gildersleeve decides to spread his summer vacation out one day at a time, starting with a day of complete rest at home in his hammock. His nephew Leroy and the neighborhood boys keep making noise in the yard, so Gildersleeve plans a quiet trip to Grass Lake. Leroy's friends Marvin and Piggy keep inviting themselves along, and Gildersleeve tries to slip away without them. Willard Waterman stars as Gildersleeve in this episode of The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on June 24, 1953, with Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
