What happens
Gildersleeve, the bluff head of the household, is inspired by a magazine article to set up a family suggestion box in his home. Each family member is invited to drop in notes about what should change, and the cigar box soon fills with pointed remarks. Some of the suggestions aimed at Gildersleeve himself prompt him to bristle, and the family begins to test whether the idea can really bring peace to the house. The transcript covers only the early part of the episode, so later developments are not described here. The series is The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on October 29, 1952, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman among the leads.
The Gildersleeve home in the fictional town of Summerfield
Characters: Gildersleeve, Leroy, Bertie, Birdie, Mrs. Cooley, Mr. Cooley, Marjorie, Ronnie
Listen for: Gildersleeve reading the notes from the suggestion box and his reaction to the suggestions made about him
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
