What happens

Leroy Gildersleeve is told to rake the enormous yard of his uncle, the Great Gildersleeve, before he can attend Craig Bullard's birthday party. The leaves keep blowing away as fast as he gathers them, and his uncle, grumbling about the work, ends up raking the yard himself while neighbors Hooker, Throckmorton and Peavey stop to comment. Leroy's efforts to reach the party are complicated when a leaf fire spreads into the Bullards' hedge and sparks an angry quarrel between the families. The Great Gildersleeve is a comedy series, and this episode was first broadcast on NBC on October 7, 1945, starring Harold Peary.

Summerfield, an autumn town of tree-lined streets, in the Gildersleeve house and front yard.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
