What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve tries to help his nephew Leroy with his trouble in history class. After Leroy complains that his new teacher, Miss Tuttle, is unfair, Gildersleeve decides to visit the school himself and speaks with her about Leroy's grades. The conversation goes badly, and Miss Tuttle invites him to the parent-teacher meeting, which he declines. Meanwhile Leroy, who has been eager to show off a painting at the open house, arranges for Peavey and Judge Hooker to take him instead. Gildersleeve comes to see the painting and finds himself in an awkward spot. This is an episode of The Great Gildersleeve, a radio comedy series, first broadcast on NBC on November 12, 1952, with Harold Peary, Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
