What happens
Marjorie Gildersleeve is assigned to babysit for a classmate's child on a Friday evening, and she is not happy about it. Her uncle, Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, the water commissioner of Summerfield, tries to smooth things over and arranges for Ben to join her. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on October 15, 1947, with Harold Peary in the title role, alongside Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle. Gildersleeve's evening takes its own turns, including a visit to the drugstore and a bit of trouble with a stranger's household.
Summerfield, a small town, on a Friday afternoon and evening

Listen for: Gildersleeve's attempts to fix Marjorie's babysitting assignment, and his conversation with Mrs. Dowerimple at her house
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
