What happens

Leroy Gildersleeve is assigned a 2,500-word school theme and decides to write about his uncle, Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, the water commissioner. He trails the commissioner for a day to take notes. Early on, Gildersleeve tries to help a stranded young woman with her car, and the two cars become locked bumper to bumper. The episode is part of the long-running series The Great Gildersleeve, which was broadcast on NBC on May 20, 1953, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman among the lead actors. Leroy's notes begin to reflect the commissioner's misadventures, and the day grows increasingly complicated.

The town, including the commissioner's office at the water department, a parking lane, and the Gildersleeve household.

Listen for: Leroy's notes on his uncle and the commissioner's mishaps during the day he trails him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
