What happens
Gildersleeve, the water commissioner of Summerfield, is praised in letters from residents of a new subdivision and begins to believe he is ready for a bigger political career. He accepts an invitation to speak to the local PTA on water, with the help of his friend Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve's acquaintance Irene and Mrs. Ramsey Nicholson, who books him as a speaker. Gildersleeve, who knows little about the science of rainmaking, scrambles to research cloud seeding before the meeting. Friday's meeting is set for the school auditorium, and he prepares a speech on the subject. The Great Gildersleeve radio series aired on NBC, and this 1954 episode features Harold Peary in the title role, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
