What happens
Gildersleeve, the Summerfield water commissioner, has invented a new water filter and wants the state to adopt it. He tries to win approval from the city engineers and the mayor, but the mayor brushes him off. Gildersleeve decides to take his drawings to the state capital himself and boards a train there. On the train he meets a young woman named Nancy, and the two keep running into each other. The episode is part of The Great Gildersleeve series, which was broadcast on NBC, with Harold Peary in the title role, supported by Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
