What happens

In Summerfield, the Great Gildersleeve and his family plan to attend the Easter Sunrise Service, a new experience for them. Leroy and Marjorie push the idea on Gildersleeve, who at first refuses before changing his mind after hearing that Grace Tuttle hopes to see him in a new suit. He buys a powder-blue suit the day before Easter, and the family sets out in the dark before dawn. Their trip to the service, led by Gildersleeve's shortcut through the fog, goes wrong. This episode is part of The Great Gildersleeve series, first broadcast on NBC on April 1, 1953, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
