What happens
Gildersleeve spends a snowy Sunday afternoon planning a quiet fireside day, first with his nephew Leroy, then with Miss Henshaw, and later with May Kelly. Each invitation leads to a mix-up as his plans change and his guests cross paths. Bertie the housekeeper tries to keep the dinner on track while Gildersleeve scrambles to smooth things over. The series The Great Gildersleeve aired on NBC, and this episode first aired on November 25, 1953, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman among the cast.
A snowy winter Sunday in Summerfield, mainly the Gildersleeve house and the surrounding town.
Characters: Gildersleeve, Leroy, Bertie, Miss Henshaw, May Kelly, Peavey, Phoebe, Joe
Listen for: Gildersleeve's attempts to keep three dinner guests from meeting, and Bertie's reactions to the growing confusion.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
