What happens

Gildersleeve and his family wait at the Summerfield train station for the arrival of Cousin Octavia, a visiting author on a lecture tour. Octavia is a strict advocate of child-rearing rules, and the household soon finds her difficult. Barbara Ann, the young daughter of the family's relatives, crosses paths with her in a series of tense moments that test everyone's patience. Leroy, Marjorie and Gildersleeve trade worried remarks as Octavia's visit grows more strained. The Great Gildersleeve was a comedy radio series broadcast by NBC, and this episode aired on December 7, 1941, with Harold Peary in the title role, joined by Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
