What happens
Gildersleeve tries to help Marjorie and Bronco get a two thousand dollar loan to finish building their house. His neighbor Rumson Bullard is cold toward him, so Gildersleeve invites Bullard to stay at his home while Bullard's own house is being painted. Gildersleeve hopes Bullard will lend the money, but the arrangement brings friction, with Bullard clashing with the household over meals and sleeping arrangements. The episode is part of The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on March 5, 1952, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman among the leads.
Summerfield, the small town where Gildersleeve lives across the street from Bullard, including Gildersleeve's house and the drug store.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
