What happens
Bertie, the housekeeper for the Gildersleeve household, spends a day helping Marjorie with her twins and housework, which leads Marjorie to suggest that Bertie might move to her home. Gildersleeve, eager to help Marjorie and assuming Bertie would prefer to live with the twins, pushes the idea with his nephew Leroy, who is not sure about it. Gildersleeve insists he and Leroy can manage on their own, and he tells Bertie she need not feel obliged to stay. Bertie seems amused by the notion, and Gildersleeve and Leroy soon discover how much they depend on her. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on June 3, 1953, starring Harold Peary, Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
